The SUV you'll be extremely comfortable with

Available in 2WD or 4WD, Outlander is the more civilised SUV. It’s an elegant blend of exceptional comfort, car-like handling and, dare we say it, serious off-road wallop.

The tree-lined lanes of Ponsonby are a far cry from the murderous heat and dust of the Sahara, yet this is where Outlander’s traction system was developed. When you venture off-road, or swerve to avoid an errant sheep, you’ll appreciate why we went to all that effort.

Outlander generously caters for the Kiwi lifestyle, with room for up to seven people and any amount of luggage – up to 1691 litres. There’s even a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

And it’s a hit, being the most popular vehicle in its class for years*.

Please note: Due to supply constraint, a limited number of 2012 Mitsubishi Outlanders are not available as advertised with steering wheel-mounted Bluetooth™ controls. To ensure you’re still able to enjoy a Bluetooth™, these vehicles have been fitted with an after-market system.

What to wear

A large part of Outlander’s appeal is visual. The chiselled lines are a hint at the elegance within and the power lurking beneath the bonnet. The newly designed fighter jet grille is taken from the EVO X, and so are a few other clever technical bits.

Wherever you look are styling cues that make Outlander the vehicle to be seen in. And at the very top is the VRX, with leather seats and steering wheel, and deftly applied touches of chrome.

There are also self-levelling High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with an Adaptive Frontlighting System (AFS) that swing light round the corner you’re turning in to.

When safety becomes an obsession

As well as smart looks, Outlander has a smart approach to safety. There are six airbags, standard throughout the range. The advanced traction system and a ride uncommon among SUVs helps you steer clear of danger. And because you can’t really help what other motorists will do, the body employs aircraft design to repel impact. The result is one very safe vehicle. Oh, and a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

Honestly, it’s an SUV

Until Outlander came along, driving an SUV meant putting up with a rather ‘wallowy’ ride and, more than likely, motion sickness. Pop out for a carton of milk and you’d come back with butter. Outlander, on the other hand, is designed to feel like a car. It’s tight, firm and responsive. In fact, we encourage you to test drive a car first, to appreciate how good it is.

Cram in a lot of luggage

This is a vehicle you can really live with. Wherever you want to go, whatever you want to take with you, or bring back, you can fit it in. Access to the boot is easy, courtesy of the split tailgate.
